Never taught in one although my first prep grade was in the original school room...a double.Ozjanehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14289581373348212960noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5773972661069379733.post-48249042374753783252012-09-26T19:15:08.978-07:002012-09-26T19:15:08.978-07:00It's been a long time since I have been to you...It's been a long time since I have been to your blog and what a great one to come to. So glad you wrote it all down. I can just see them going out there on the praire. My MIL taught in a one room school when she started teaching right out of high school. They called it normal school. That would have been about 1910. She loved it. That was here in Maryland.

I've had a hard time posting pictures so just stopped trying, Keep up the good work.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08205961618402944320noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5773972661069379733.post-30143185161209341182012-09-25T08:04:05.108-07:002012-09-25T08:04:05.108-07:00What a wonderful story. I'm sure there are MANY stories in families all around that revolve around that schoolhouse. I have intrest in learning about the schoolhouse that was across the road from my grandparents farm. I have manage to get a little oral history but that's about it. My dad as well as his sister would have been able to help me but did not remember until now and both are gone.
It's amazing how as we grow older we remember those things
from long ago that are close to our heart. Speaking of time and quilting you know "our elders got up with the chickens". I'll keep you posted on what I am able to dig up on my schoolhouse project.Angela FlowersMoorehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02004676904380311676noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5773972661069379733.post-76665353539850889752012-09-23T20:26:09.712-07:002012-09-23T20:26:09.712-07:00A wonderful story, thank you for sharing it with u...A wonderful story, thank you for sharing it with us. Last summer we attended a 50th anniversary for my cousin at the Hespero Hall. Can you imagine? I see people in restaurants with children today who can't behave for 30 minutes. My husband attended a 1 room schoolhouse through 6th grade in Nebraska. Don't you wish people still had that same sense of community? Don't know when they found the time to quilt, but I'm glad they did!
