I completed this star quilt around 2002-2003. The 5 feathered stars float around the large overall star that was created by using the " Courthouse steps log cabin layout". The border is a chain link border using star fabrics. The chain link border pattern came from an older magazine called " Quilting Today."
As a rule, I like to create my quilts by using many different colors- This quilt has a really limited palette and that made it a different kind of creative challenge.
"Star Blue Night" resides on our bed and still looks almost as nice as it was in this photo.
Congratulations to Amy for hosting The Fall Blogger Quilt festival. I am looking forward to visiting many other blogs and seeing all the beautiful quilts. Last spring, I met many new bloggers through the festival- I am looking forward to visiting new blogs, seeing all the beautiful quilts, and making some new quilting friends.

I love the colors and the pattern :)
ReplyDeleteThis is fantastic!!! Love the blue and white and wonderful pattern!
ReplyDeleteBlue and white quilt. How nice, I love blue and white, but have overlooked and tend to make quilt with too many colors in it. Great job - Hugs Nat
ReplyDeleteYour Star Blue Quilt is lovely. I need to make a new one for our bed, but just cant get off to a good start/
ReplyDeleteBeautiful quilt! Love the blues!
ReplyDeleteSO STRIKING! Great quilt!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, striking, and one of a kind!!!
ReplyDeleteThis is so beautiful! I adore blue and white when I see it but from working with it exclusively on pillows and a quilt I get bored. I love the feathered star though! Awesome!!
ReplyDeleteOh, that is really pretty! I am playing too - I think it is such fun to get so inspired...
ReplyDeleteBeautiful quilt. I decided to stay away from the festival this year. I spent so much time last year looking at every quilt she had on. This year I just don't have the time with trying to get a bunch of quilt tops quilted and more quilts made to send to the Northern reserves. Along with everything else I have to do before Christmas.
ReplyDeleteHappy Thanksgiving!!
Such a beautiful quilt. I agree, I have not seen too many quilts of yours that have so few colors, but it is wonderful. Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteStunning quilt. Thanks for showing it to us. Now I'm going to have to add the Feathered Star to my list of quilts to do!
ReplyDeleteI love the border especially on that quilt. Since I love blue & white quilts, I like it so much more, but that border is great!
ReplyDeleteHi Anna
ReplyDeleteYour quilt is beautiful! What a lot of work went into it. I love the colors.
Hope the school year is going well.

I love it. It's beautiful. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteHaving slept many nights under that beautiful feathered star, I can assure the readers that it looks even better in real life in three dimensions than it does on a computer monitor in two. I know that to be true of most works of art, and quilts are no exception.
ReplyDeleteThis one's a beauty. I agree with the Calico Cat that the border is especially nice.
Enjoy your blogger quilt festival, everyone.

I love the colors! And I don't like to follow patterns exactly, so I love that you only followed half of your original pattern!
ReplyDeleteYour quilt is lovely! I can certainly empathize with your decision to change your original plan. Such a creative solution!!
ReplyDeleteYour quilt is very beautiful. I love the bold colors of blue that you have used. Great quilt!
ReplyDeleteVery pretty! The blues are sooo rich! Thank you for visiting me, and leaving the kind comment. You are always welcome at Ivory Spring - please come back again.
ReplyDeleteThe blues are so soothing, perfect for a bedroom. What a great way to use your 5 feathered star blocks. Beautiful design.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful quilt. Feathered stars are gorgeous but time consuming. Love the results of your changes.
ReplyDeletegorgeous pattern, striking colours, what a joy to visit so many inspirational places like yours!

Hi Anna! Thanking you for stopping by my blog and leaving such a nice comment on my Festival post! I will definitely keep on exploring quilting - it brings me real joy.
ReplyDeleteP.S. My boyfriend would like to let you know that he thinks your dog (in your header picture) is beautiful!
Beautiful blue colors...and a perfect way to use your HST's.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing.
It is beautiful quilt:)
ReplyDeleteDear Anna,
ReplyDeleteThanks for your lovely comment on my blog. I have enjoyed reading yours. I have never made a lone star quilt, and don't know if I ever will. I like the fact that you decided after making five, you'd had enough. I think the courthouse steps made an interesting quilt, and the border finishes it off beautifully.
Your name is entered into my festival hand-painted fabric giveaway.

Ooh, I love blue and white quilts. Very pretty.
ReplyDeleteBoy, what a lot of work Anna! I love the gorgeous deep blue -- beautiful job!
ReplyDeleteSometimes changing directions is the only solution! :D
ReplyDeleteYours is now one of a kind!
It is beautiful! And what a great save! I love the way you were able to integrate those blocks into a new design. If it were me, they would probably have just ended up in a box, lost to the ages. :)
ReplyDeleteVery lovely Anna. You really must have a lot of patience to stick through creating blocks with 150 pieces each. They are stunning and I like they way you incorporated the blocks with other design elements.
ReplyDeleteThis is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteHasn't the festival been fun!
Anna, Your quilt is gorgeous.. I started a feathered star many years ago, probably in the summer of 2000 or 2001 and I still haven't finished it. LOL I keep saying I'm going to pick it back up one of these days. I love the colors blue and white. Lovely..
ReplyDeleteEach block has 150 pieces??!! I can't even imagine it! what a challenge!! And oh my gosh...what a result!!! Absolutely the BEST
ReplyDeleteIts a beautiful quilt and you are very brave to take on any quilt made with feathered star blocks let alone that it called for 20!
ReplyDeleteI really like what you came up with.
HUGS! Carin
